Basically, 'Winamppluginsgen_ml.ini' is the ml config file, and the database is stored in the 'Winamppluginsml' dir (main.dat & main.idx are the main database, but it's probably best to backup the entire ml dir)
Note:
As from 5.5, the Winamp installer is now hard-coded to save/read settings in the %AppData%Winamp folder.
%AppData% under 2k/XP
C:Documents and Settings<username>Application DataWinamp
%AppData% Under Vista:
c:users<username>AppDataRoamingWinamp
Note that the %AppData% folder is hidden by default, so make sure you can view hidden files and folder first via Control Panel > Folder Options > View tab.
Though you can just type %AppData%Winamp into the Explorer address bar and hit Enter.
You can change back to having a shared settings installation again (so that settings are saved/read in the Program FilesWinamp folder again instead) by simply deleting paths.ini from the root Winamp program dir (or move it to some backup folder, or rename to eg. paths.ini.off).

Winamp is a powerful free media player for Windows and Android. It can play lots of video and audio format, such as MP3, MIDI, MOD, AAC, M4A, FLAC, WAV, WMA, WMV, AVI, etc. You can also sync the unprotected to your iPod and other portable devices. If you have a music CD and want to play the songs on your iPod, you can use Winamp to rip the CD and then transfer the ripped songs to iPod for playback. In the below guide, you will find how to rip CD with Winamp.

How to rip CD with Winamp

First, install and download Winamp and the best codecs to work with Winamp, such as the K-Lite Codec Pack. Insert the music CD into your computer's hard drive and run Winamp.

WinampLibrary

Open the View menu in the Winamp main window and select Library (or press ALT+L) to launch the Media Library. On the left pane of the Media Library, select your CD recorder within the Rip & Burn list. Note: You may have to double-click Rip & Burn to see your list of CD/DVD-RW drives. If you don't see the Rip & Burn node, then go to. Winamp is a media player that allows you to play all of your media files in one place. The program has its own library where you can select and play your personal files. In order to access your files in Winamp, you must first add them to the application. Fortunately, adding files to Winamp is quick and easy. I am using WinAmp 5.31 on WinXP. Two questions: 1. Where is the directory and file that the media library is stored in? If I uninstall and/or upgrade WinAmp to a new version, will that media library be preserved?

1. Click 'View' > 'Media Library' to open Winamp Media Library. On the left bar, you will see 'Audio CD (E:)'. Click on it and you will see all the songs on the CD displayed on the primary window of Winamp. Then click the 'Rip' button at the bottom of the window and choose 'CD ripping preferences' to set the output file settings.

2. Go to the 'output file settings' tab to choose the destination folder to save the ripped tracks and set the filename. And in the 'Encoder' tab, select the codec you want to use when ripping. You can either choose MP3 or MP4, which are supported by most MP3 players. If you want to play the tracks on your computer, you can choose OGG, which provides the best sound quality.

3. Now click the 'Rip' button again. You have two choices for CD ripping: Rip all tracks and rip selected tracks. If you just want to rip a few tracks, you can click on them (Hold down the Ctrl key and click one multiple songs.) and then click 'Rip' and choose 'Rip selected tracks' to rip the selected songs.

Winamp will show you the ripping process with the status updated every second. The finished songs will be labeled as 'Complete' and pending tracks will be labeled as Pending. After Winamp finished the CD ripping process, it will show you the track list. You can just find the songs in your defined output folder.

2. You can rip CD with some free media players. However, you cannot rip DVD video with them. If you want to rip DVD movies to popular video formats like AVI, MP4, MOV, MKV, FLV, WMV, etc. or audio formats such as MP3, WMA, OGG, FLAC, AAC, etc., you can turn to Aimersoft DVD ripper software for Windows (Windows 8 compatible).
