SOLIDWORKS: SolidWorks is pretty poor at texture unwrapping. You will probably want to open the.obj in another application like Blender to tweak the unwrap and other aspects of materials. In the 'SW unwrap errors' folder included with this macro you can see examples of how poor the native unwrapping is. Blender to Solidworks using.stl works fine for me (remember to select “Solid Body” in Solidworks file dialog to see edges and faces) but I question the point of bringing it into Solidworks. It’s a parametric solid modeller so you can’t do much with the model once imported anyway.

Conversion of sldprt files to fbx file format

SolidWorks apparently does not have native support for FBX format (Autodesk Kaydara 3D data exchange format), but you can find some plugins that will add this function to the program so users can export their parts (.sldprt) or assemblies (.sldasm) as .fbx files.

Latest versions of 3D Studio Max also possess the capability to work and export FBX format whilst they also support import of SolidWorks formats.

Both these options are fairly expensive and sadly we haven't found any cheap and easy solution how to convert sldprt to fbx.

Nevertheless, Blender supposedly can both import/export FBX format (with a Python script) and thus may be worth a shot, although the support was added without the use of the official FBX SDK and thus may not be perfect. For this to work, you would need to first convert the SolidWorks files to VRML format that is acceptable by Blender, which is endeavor of its own.

I have high quality models in Blender with smooth edges. My aim is to 3D print these models but when exporting files in STL format it results in models with rough edges. Does anyone have any tips on getting these models to solidworks without loss of quality?

Btw, I prefer to use Solidworks as I am most comfortable with it.

I've never used Blender, but it most likely has a smooth shader to make models appear smoother than they really are.
Are there any settings to adjust when saving an STL file from Blender? There are usually options to adjust the mesh density, chord length, or angle of deviation.

If no export options exist, you may need to increase the mesh density before exporting. Does Blender use triangles or quads? Are there options to subdivide the mesh? Try subdividing a few times, then export.

Keep in mind that subdividing too much will eventually lead to very large file sizes.

Importing STL files into SW is generally a bad idea. I guess it depends on what you have to do to the models.
